On the Road with Loona part II

**NOTE: this travel weblog will continue in Ireland and Tennessee**

So, here's what's going on....

I know I haven't updated the site or posted here in some time, and I know some of you might have noticed that on May 19th, when CBS announced their fall lineup, Saint Louie (my show) was not mentioned. Indeed we are not on the fall schedual but we have high hopes that we may get picked up for the mid-season. We will know about that in the next couple of weeks, I expect.

In the meantime, my wife, baby, dog and I need to return to Los Angeles so that I can either prepare to produce and act in a midseason show or pursue other work if that does not happen.

So that means, as always, that it's time to drive my dog back across the country. I didn't expect that we'd be doing this again so soon and that life would be this uncertain on our return. I figured that I was coming out here to the East to await a decision and that, when we came back, our futures would be clear one way or the other. But the fact is that we're returning to LA knowing little of what is in store for us this year.

This time, I will not be driving a Lincoln Navigator. I will be driving our Ford Focus hatchback. Excellent car, by the way. I am strapping my bike to the back, I've got a tent that attaches to the hatchback, a sleeping bag, a propane burner, many cans of various soups, beans and dog food, my camera, a tripod, my powerbook and bluetooth phone. So I'll be able to post pictures and stories, by the light of the propane lamp, from our campsites.

Last time, as you might have read, we took a semi-southern route, staying on the I40 until Knoxville. This time we will take the 70 across kansas and into Denver, so we can then head south into Utah and Nevada, doing some serious camping there. I hope to avoid the more commercial campsites so that our experience of the wild will not be ruined by the sounds of loud televisions coming out of the many RVs that camp there.

Here's the crazy part. The day after I arrive in Los Angeles, I have to get on a flight right away to go to Ireland for the Killkenny comedy festival. Then from there I fly to Tennessee for the Bonnaroo Festival, then back to LA. So I'm about to drive across the country, fly across the world, back across the world again in the next two weeks. I think it's about 15,000 miles all together. Jesus tomatoes what am I doing with my life?

Oh, one more thing. Poor Loona had an operation a few days ago, to have a "mass" removed from under her fore-leg and she has stitches there. She is under strict vet's orders to only leash walk and take it very easy. She also has to wear a t-shirt at all times to protect the healing wound. She already ripped the stitches open once and had to have it stapled shut. Huge drag. And it means she won't be able to romp across the country like on the way here. I hope this does not make the trip too boring.

So, tomorrow I drive to New York City, drop off the wife and baby (they're flying to LA) and then I start my trip. I hope to post tomorrow night but don't be suprised if I have to skip a day and start on Thursday, just so I can make some headway first.

Okay, folks. Hope you enjoy it.

Your friend,

Louis C.K.
