My new movie, FOURTH OF JULY is playing at AMC theaters all over the country tomorrow JULY 6th FOR ONE NIGHT.
Tickets are going fast and shows are selling out. They are adding shows in many theaters. Louis C.K.’s Fourth of July had sold out premieres this weekend at non-traditional venues - New York’s Beacon, Boston’s Shubert and Chicago’s Vic - and the film formally opened at the Village East by Angelika and Laemmle’s Monica Film Center, with sold out shows requiring a move to a bigger auditorium, for an astonishing total B.O. gross of $219,100. These are powerful indications that the audience for more personal, independent films will go back to cinemas when there’s something they want to see. Fourth of July will open across the U.S. and Canada on more than 100 screens in the coming weeks, with some shows already selling out well in advance. C.K. said “All of us who made this movie with love are very happy to find that so many people are connecting with the story and the fine performances and enjoying it and laughing together in theaters around the continent. Hooray for cinema.”
Well that’s about all for this email. I know you’re getting more from me than usual and I’m sorry about that. But I really want to get people out to see this movie. Because that’s why movies get made so that people can see them. And I’m on my own with this so I got to do what I can. Don’t worry, it’ll be over soon.
